Testing the Range of Your Activator

The link between the activator that you wear and the base unit is a radio wave signal and it is required by the FCC to be susceptible to interference from the environment where it is used. For this reason it is recommended that each time a base unit is installed or relocated, or a new activator is provided, an Activator Range Test be conducted.

With base unit connected correctly, place the unit in test mode and conduct Range test as follows:

1. PRESS and HOLD the RESET BUTTON on the front of the base unit;

2. WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE RESET BUTTON, PRESS and HOLD the HELP BUTTON on the BASE UNIT (not the activator).

3. RELEASE YOUR FINGER FROM THE RESET BUTTON, (you will hear be-bop tone) then RELEASE YOUR OTHER FINGER FROM THE HELP BUTTON;

4. If this was done correctly the unit will BEEP SEVEN TIMES to signal TEST MODE.

IF UNIT ACTIVATES AND STARTS TO DIAL PRESS THE RESET BUTTON TO CANCEL ACTIVATION AND START TEST MODE PROCEDURE AGAIN!

5. When unit is in TEST MODE: Stand in the home AT THE FARTHEST POINT AWAY FROM THE BASE UNIT inside your home and PRESS THE ACTIVATOR. Each time the SIGNAL IS RECEIVED the base unit will BEEP. (The more beeps, the stronger the signal). Moving about the home, CONTINUE TO PRESS THE ACTIVATOR, LISTENING FOR BEEPS EACH TIME. You have two minutes, after that the unit will reset and dial the monitoring station when you press the activator, if this occurs simply advise the operator you are testing and they will disconnect.

IT IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT TO CHECK NEAR THE FLOOR IN AREAS OF LARGE METAL CONCENTRATION SUCH AS HOSPITAL BEDS, WHEELCHAIRS, METAL DOORS AND CLOSET DOORS. IF RANGE IS POOR, CALL FOR ASSISTANCE AND NOTE ANY AREAS ACTIVATOR DOES NOT WORK.

6. When done, be sure to DISENGAGE THE TEST MODE by PRESSING THE RESET BUTTON.
